After a certain level of money, status, fame, and celebrity, it's more manageable to bang high end escorts with discretion. That's why you see these NBA and NFL athletes getting in trouble because they're having sex with groupies and these women are robbing them, taking pictures/videos of them in their sleep and sending them to TMZ and posting them on social media, and other such nonsense. How many athletes or music artists have had that done to them?

There are some parties in Hollywood and other establishments that celebrities frequent with non-disclosure agreements and many celebrities if they're having women over at hotels or their homes will have women sign legal contracts and confiscate their phones before they enter. It's not uncommon whatsoever at that level of fame.

Eh... my parents (dad actually) was prone to picking semi-non-standard names.

Mine is "Orion" and my sister is "Andromeda".

Mind you, it was moreso due to him being really into astronomy, rather than Greek myths specifically.

I love the name Andromeda. Orion is okay too though probably confused with 'Ryan' a lot.

I find those names uncommon but not ridiculous and have no issues with them. Uncommon names are cool to me. Just not silly ones.

Wolf is a legitimate name in Germany, Austria and such (Wolfgang).

The others are pretty ridiculous.

I understand the name Wolf and its variants (Wulf, Wolfric, Wolfram, Wolfgang, etc) are an actual name from those areas.

But we're west African, not German/Austrian/Hungarian.

Hence the absurdity of naming our kid Ragnar.

Wolf and Ocean are not even close to weird or new age. Several pretty popular or iconic names mean those things. Wolf, Wolfgang, Adolf, etc. Ocean is the same, we just don't realize it often because it's in another language. For example, my Chinese professor gave us all Chinese names when we started learning and mine was Hai Tao (can't do the accents on here), which sounds cool and foreign, but literally just means 'ocean wave' in Chinese (it's literally the word you would use to describe that). In fact, several Chinese names are like this (including some that are literal numbers).

The others are a bit off, though. Revolution seems incredibly wordy for a name. Titan is a very specific thing (either the Greek version of primordial giants, a descriptor of size, or a stellar body named after the aforementioned primordial giants). Alpha just seems dumb to me.

That being said, people usually grow out of that. It's not a 'millennial' thing, either. People have had weird names forever, and a lot of our 'normal' names were actually weird when they started. For example, the name Ashley was almost entirely male until a tomboy character in a novel was named Ashley.

I honestly have a thing for old Norse names (or the modern equivalents for some of the more difficult to pronounce ones) because I have a thing for the Norse pantheon and fascination with that time period, but I'm 98% certain my wife will veto anything like that if we ever decide to have kids.

I'm aware some names "mean" those things. It doesn't make them any less fucking stupid as names. Like I said, I have an extremely uncommon name and I'm not doing that to my kids. Our last name is uncommon as is last thing they need is a silly first name like Wolf or Ocean. Doesn't matter if it means something else it's not a good name. Just because Toro means bull in Spanish doesn't mean I would name my son Bull. Lots of names have meanings and are actually decent names on their own. Reina means queen. Laila/Layla means night. Luna means moon. Those are all good names.

But I wouldn't call my daughter Night.

And the Norse stuff just reminded me of one of the other names she chose was Ragnar. What the fuck?! We're black first off, I'm not naming my kids for white mythological heroes have some damn pride at least.

But yeah I'm sorry but every single one of those names is stupid as fuck. I truly don't understand the mindset of people who give their kids dumb weird names. It baffles my mind that people are that fucking stupid to not realize what they're doing to their own kids who have to live with the idiotic name they chose.

I thought she was great until she brought up the baby names today. I mean if the names weren't stupid as hell I wouldn't have thought twice about it but these are celebrity baby name levels of bad. Like God awful.

Though she's African and never lived in a western nation so maybe she doesn't understand just how dumb those names would be in the United States. I unabashedly told her I'd never do my kids the disservice of giving them such ridiculous names.

As someone who has an extremely uncommon first, middle, and last name I would never do this to my kids. No way in hell.

I actually just spent the last 30 minutes googling how names affect us and found out men with shorter names get paid more and get promoted more easily, having a "white" sounding name not only makes you more employable but it's equivalent to 8 years of work experience on a resume, having a common name gets you perceived as more likeable and trustworthy, and other statistics that basically reinforce my thoughts on this.

As someone who works in corporate sales and after doing this googling on how names are perceived I actually now wonder how much my foreign name and uncommon name hurts my sales efforts with my e-mail/phone outreach. Interesting stuff.

I vowed after seeing the slap in the face called the Force Awakens to never pay for a Star Wars film again.

After I watched the Last Jedi I was so glad I stood by that vow. I knew after TFA not to contribute to this garbage they're now calling Star Wars. I no longer support the franchise in spirit or financially.

All I can say is I feel so much more respect and admiration and a deep amount of pity for Mark Hamill after what they did to him and Luke's character in the Last Jedi.

The fact he spoke publicly about some of his issues with the film and actually tried to push back on the disgusting things they did to his character show how much integrity he has.
